List of Abbreviations ===================== .. glossary:: ADC Analog to Digital Converter - An electrical device that converts analog physical measurements to digital values. The physical measurement is often assumed to be a voltage. API Application Programming Interface - An interface between software components. DUT Device under Test - A DUT is a product or system undergoing a test. The test is performed by the devices connected to the DUT. In the context of this manual the LXA IOBus 4DO-3DI-3AI is a considered part of the test-system and the LXA IOBus 4DO-3DI-3AI is intended to be connected to the DUT. EMI Electromagnetic Interference - EMI describes interference in systems caused by electromagnetic radiation generated by other devices or the system itself. EMI can lead to restrictions in functionality or malfunctions. ESD Electrostatic Discharge - This event describes the sudden flow of electric charge between a charged body and an electric device. The energy released during this event can damage the electrical device. ISP In System Programmer - A tool that allows uploading new firmware to a device without requiring disassembly or other invasive actions. LSS Layer Setting Services - A CANopen protocol that allows the configuration of individual node ids and the communication bitrate. PCB Printed Circuit Board - A part of an electrical assembly providing physical support and electrical connections to other components. REST Representational State Transfer - A paradigm for the design of :term:`API`\ s. The ``lxa-iobus-server`` provides a REST :term:`API` on top of HTTP. SMT Surface Mount Technology - An assembly method for electrical devices where devices are placed on the surface of a :term:`PCB` and the mounting and electrical connections are handled by re-flowing of solder in an oven. THT Through Hole Technology - An assembly method for electrical devices where connectors of devices penetrate through holes in the :term:`PCB` and solder is applied on the opposite side to structurally and electrically connect the connector and the :term:`PCB`.
